Seniors present their final architectural designs in college gallery

On the eve of their Saturday commencement ceremony, 12 students completing their bachelor’s degrees in architecture & sustainable design presented their culminating works in The Gallery at Penn College.
The reception included family members, faculty, classmates, alumni and industry professionals.
Each graduating senior was tasked with the design and development of a significant building in a location of their choice.
Students showcasing their work, along with their project titles:

• Diana M. Gaglione, of Scranton: Visual Arts Institute of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
• Sandra M. Gallick, of Linden: Horticulture Center of Health and Well-Being in Long Island City, New York
• Zachery A. Heigley, of Kittanning: Higley Brewing Co. in Gilbert, Ariz.
• Evynn A. Johnston, of Sayre: Resort Dracula Mountain Resort
• Zachary E. Johnston, of Derry: Last Frontier Community Center in Anchorage, Alaska
• Elaina M. Lawson, of Girard: Maplewood Manor Senior Living Continuum of Care Facility, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
• Sadie S.E. Niedermyer, of Spring Mills: Geiranger (Norway) Architecture Research Institute
• Tyler T. Weimert, of Yardley: Liv-Simultaneously Resort & Casino, Las Vegas
• Aidan J. Weissenberger, of Hightstown, New Jersey: Susquehanna Hall Living-Learning Environment, Williamsport
Addressing the group with words of congratulation were architecture faculty Daniel L. Brooks (instructor), Dorothy J. Gerring (associate professor), Tuna Saka (associate professor) and Naim N. Jabbour (associate professor), who taught the group’s Capstone Studio class.
“We want to thank you for allowing us to be a footnote in the book you are writing,” Jabbour told the students.
Also congratulating the graduates were Ellyn A. Lester, assistant dean of construction and architectural technologies; Joanna K. Flynn, vice president for academic affairs/provost; and President Michael J. Reed.

The exhibit was held for three days, and The Gallery at Penn College is currently closed. It will reopen May 30 for a summer exhibition: "Books Undone 2: The Art of Altered Books."
