Penn College’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center was the site for the Pennsylvania Future Farmers of America Northern Region Competition, held Tuesday with about 175 high school students in attendance.
Students hailed from 25 schools in the region's 22 counties: Bradford, Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Lycoming, McKean, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Pike, Potter, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Wayne and Wyoming.
Pennsylvania FFA is divided among four regions with over 13,000 student members.
In addition to competing in FFA events, the Northern Region members enjoyed Earth Science Center tours and activities, including mini excavator, backhoe and axe throwing challenges. A number of Penn College students, staff and faculty also chipped in to help.
Ideal spring weather greeted the guests, offering ample opportunities for outdoor exploration and soaking in the natural beauty of the Earth Science Center, the 400-acre living laboratory for Penn College’s landscaping, forestry, heavy construction equipment, diesel technology and electric power generation majors.
