Sigma Pi and the Penn College Men’s Soccer Team have joined forces to host a clothing drive to benefit the American Rescue Workers in Williamsport. The drive runs through Friday, April 26.
Donation bins are in six locations across campus: Davie Jane Gilmour Center, Klump Academic Center, Keystone Dining Room, CC Commons, Dauphin Hall and the Breuder Advanced Technology & Health Sciences Center.
“I had an idea to team up with the Men’s Soccer Team to put on the biggest clothing drive this college has ever seen,” said Trevor L. Keaton, head of philanthropy for Sigma Pi and a four-year member of the fraternity. “I went throughout the community to find an organization willing to work with us with a large quantity of clothes, and American Rescue Workers loved the idea and jumped onboard.” (Keaton is a senior in manufacturing engineering technology from Lansdale.)
The donation drive is seeking unwanted clothing that is in good condition.
American Rescue Workers is a faith-based non-profit organization providing homelessness and hunger prevention services in Lycoming County since 1934. The organization helps community members reach self-sufficiency through work programs, shelter, food, case management and spiritual guidance.
