'Night of Empowerment' to be held in ACC Auditorium Thursday

A Pennsylvania College of Technology student and staff member are playing key roles in the second annual Night of Empowerment, to be held 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 29, in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium. Individuals seeking to enhance their careers, relationships or personal well-being are encouraged to pre-register to attend.
Jashonda S. Scott, a junior in the human services & restorative justice Bachelor of Science degree major, will serve as a moderator. Dawn M. Dickey, director of disability and access resources, is among the evening’s panelists.
Other empowering panelists include: Mohamed Osman, pain medicine physician at UPMC; Lt. William C. Slaton, staff services section commander for the Pennsylvania State Police; Allen Taylor, math teacher and head boys basketball coach at Williamsport Area High School; and Emma Thompson, administrative officer at the Lycoming-Clinton Joinder Board. Joining Scott as a moderator will be Cyn-Sere Khalil Coney, a senior at Williamsport Area High School who is the current “Mr. Millionaire.”
An opportunity to network with the panelists will occur from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., followed by the moderated panel discussion from 7 to 8 p.m.
In addition to providing thought-provoking discussions, the Night of Empowerment aims to inspire, motivate and uplift each individual in the community, regardless of race, religion, ability, class, ethnicity or gender. It is hosted by the Williamsport Representation Council and supported by Penn College, Lycoming College, the City of Williamsport, UPMC and Bair Excavation.
