Pennsylvania College of Technology basketball teams went 1-2 in their games last week, with the women picking up their fourth win of the season. Both squads return to action on Tuesday with nonconference play before getting into the bulk of their United East Conference schedules starting on Saturday.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The Wildcats evened their lifetime series at 1-1 against Keystone College on Saturday with a 53-44 win to close out the 2023 portion of their slate. Rachel Teats, of Middleburg, led the offense with 17 points, while Mia Patterson, of Loyalsock Township, topped Penn College with 10 rebounds.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
Despite dominating points in the paint 40-20, Penn College was outscored in points off turnovers 16-7 and in 3-point shooting by a 10-2 margin, as it managed to connect on just 2 of 19 attempts in a 60-54 loss to host Juniata College in the opening round of the Doc Greene Tournament on Friday. Livingston Cross, of Union, New Jersey, led the Wildcats with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
In Saturday’s tourney consolation game against first-time foe Mary Baldwin University, Landon Reeder, of Montoursville, scored 25 points; Gavin Barrett, of Roselle, New Jersey, tallied 20 and dished out 10 assists; and Cross scored 14 in a 102-74 loss. The Wildcats led in points in the paint, 42-30, but Mary Baldwin held the upper hand in points off turnovers, 20-11, and in 3-point shooting goals, 17-4.
Geneva College went on to win the tournament with a 59-34 victory over Juniata.

WRESTLING
Penn College returned to the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Tournament Team Rankings on Dec. 27, tied for 24th with three others. The Wildcats initially were tied for 23rd place in the Oct. 31 preseason rankings before dropping out of the top 25 during the first two regular-season rankings.
Individually, Isaac Cory, of Montoursville, remains third nationally in the 184-pound weight class and first in the Mideast Region, while also in the region Noah Hunt, of Muncy (141), stayed third; Nicholai Brotzman, of Marietta (285), stayed sixth; TJ Martin, of Honesdale (149); and Kaden Ware, of Brooklyn, Connecticut (133), both stayed seventh; and Travis Green, of Manchester, Maryland (165); and Cade Schneck, of Pine Grove (174), both stayed eighth.
