Penn College Police Chief David C. Pletz successfully headlined Wednesday night's Town Hall meeting, co-sponsored by the Student Government Association and the Office of Student Engagement.
About 30 students attended the Penn's Inn session, which was related to safety in a variety of situations – on- and off-campus.
The chief provided information on sexual assault prevention, noting that important topic may be the focus of another Town Hall during Fall 2024 startup.
Citing fallout from several large-scale parties at off-campus properties, he encouraged students to be responsible hosts and attendees, as well as respectful neighbors to nearby residences.
Pletz, who also serves as the college's director of campus safety, offered pointers on security over the upcoming holiday breaks. He encouraged residents – particularly in off-campus apartments – to lock their doors and first-floor windows, and recommended they not entice burglars by leaving cash, electronics and other valuables in plain view.
