Penn College to provide free oral health care to kids age 7-18
Thursday, October 12, 2023
On Saturday, Nov. 4, Pennsylvania College of Technology will provide free dental care to children and teens age 7-18.
From 9 a.m. to noon in the college’s Dental Hygiene Clinic, volunteer dentists and dental hygienists and Penn College students will provide free oral screenings, sealants and education during an activity dubbed “Sealant Saturday.” Appointments are required and can be made by calling 570-320-8007.
Sealants are clear, protective plastic coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to help prevent tooth decay. They will be applied as needed and will not be placed where tooth decay is present.
Penn College has been a Sealant Saturday host since 2003. More than 1,000 individuals have received free dental care in the Penn College Dental Hygiene Clinic as part of the initiative. The clinic provides low-cost services to the public and is on the second floor of the Breuder Advanced Technology & Health Sciences Center.
