State Sen. Gene Yaw, who chairs the Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors, is among the leaders named to The 2023 Energy & Environment Power 100, released Monday by City & State Pennsylvania.
He is joined on the list by Dustin K. Droege, who holds two degrees from Penn College and is employed by one of the world's largest investors in renewable power.
"The Keystone State is currently America's second-largest energy exporter and its third-largest coal and electricity producer, while the power generated via from Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale – the U.S.'s largest natural gas field – radiates literally and metaphorically beyond state borders," the magazine's editors wrote. "Whether drilling shale, promoting green alternatives or keeping the power grids stable, the people on this list are all helping to write Pennsylvania’s sustainable next chapter."
A Republican from Loyalsock Township, Yaw shares the No. 30 spot with state Sen. Carolyn T. Comitta, a Democrat from West Chester; they co-chair the State Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee.
At No. 62 is Droege, a Conestoga-based alumnus and director of operations at Brookfield Renewable U.S. He earned an associate degree in electromechanical maintenance technology (2007) and a bachelor's in technology management (2009).
