Penn College mechatronics student receives scholarship

A Pennsylvania College of Technology student is the recipient of a scholarship from a foundation dedicated to supporting packaging and processing education throughout North America.

Marissa R. Rupert, of Danville, is one of six students nationwide to receive a $5,000 PACK EXPO scholarship from the PMMI Foundation of the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies. A Dean’s List student, Rupert is seeking a bachelor’s degree in automation engineering technology: mechatronics.

Mechatronics refers to the integration of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering systems. Typical careers for graduates of Penn College’s mechatronics major include automation integrator, mechanical technician and controls engineer.

The PMMI Foundation provided nearly $200,000 in scholarships to students studying packaging, food processing, engineering and mechatronics.
