Community Arts Center to soon preview 30th anniversary season

Thursday, June 29, 2023

The Community Arts Center is celebrating its 30th year in operation and will soon announce some of the shows comprising the 2023-24 Performance Series.

After an exciting year, the 2022-23 season is coming to a close at the CAC. The past 12 months have seen some huge names grace the William J. Martin Theatre, such as comedy musician “Weird Al” Yankovic; Christian rock icons MercyMe; American folk stars Old Crow Medicine Show; hometown hero Morgan Myles; comic all-stars like Bert Kreischer, Joe Gatto and Nate Bargatze; and legendary blues rockers ZZ Top.

More than 60 of the past season's Community Arts Center performances and events are reflected in this collection of programs.

With all of those big names, it’s no surprise that the Community Arts Center saw nights with lines running up and down West Fourth Street for multiple performances. In addition to nationally touring performers, the CAC hosted many local organizations and events: student performances by the Uptown Music Collective and Lycoming College, the Repasz Band’s free events, the Community Theatre League's musicals, and the various groups that contribute to the annual performance of "The Nutcracker" prove that “community” really is a key part of the Community Arts Center.

“Many people and organizations are to thank for helping make our 2022-23 year successful,” says Steven Ault, the CAC's marketing manager. “One major group is our dedicated volunteer corps, who collectively have spent over 5,000 hours helping during performances and, most of all, to our patrons, for showing up to our performances and spreading the word about the 'Jewel of Williamsport.'"

“The funding for our programming is derived from various sources, including individual donations to our annual campaign, corporate sponsorships, grants and EITC funds,” said Ana Gonzalez-White, college relations officer in charge of CAC development. “For three decades, the community’s generosity has been steadfast and significant. I am so grateful for the support and am thrilled for us to be celebrating 30 years.”
