Careers 'spring' to life in weekend commencements

Pennsylvania College of Technology held three commencements at the Community Arts Center on May 12-13 for nearly 775 students who fulfilled academic requirements during the Spring 2023 semester. The ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday featured the schools of Business, Arts & Sciences and Nursing & Health Sciences; programs in the School of Engineering Technologies comprised Saturday's proceedings, which split the school's five divisions between the 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. ceremonies. Student speakers were Ninoshka Marie Rivera Matos, who received an Associate of Applied Science in dental hygiene on Friday; Sophia G. Wiest, who received an Associate of Applied Science in landscape/plant production technology on Saturday morning; and Michael J. Sormilic, who earned a Bachelor of Science in building automation engineering technology and an Associate of Applied Science in electric power generation technology: diesel emphasis. The college also honored Sean Stabler, who holds two plastics degrees, with a Distinguished Alumni Award.
