A Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member has contributed to an online handbook known for its comprehensive coverage of metals and materials technology.
Jose M. Perez Jr., instructor of plastics & polymer technology, co-authored and assisted editing a chapter in volume 11B of the “ASM Handbook.” The peer-reviewed handbook is published by ASM International, the world’s largest and most established materials information society.
According to the abstract, Perez’s chapter, “Characterization and Failure Analysis of Plastics,” is a “reference and guide to help engineers determine the causes of failure in plastic components and make corrective adjustments through design and manufacturing modifications.”
Perez has taught at Penn College since 2018. His plastics industry experience includes a decade working as a failure analyst and senior engineer at Element Materials Technology, a global provider of testing, inspection and certification services for advanced industrial supply chains.
Penn College features one of six plastics programs in the world with ABET accreditation. Options include a bachelor’s degree in plastics & polymer engineering technology and an associate degree in plastics & polymer technology.
