The imminent departure of Penn College students and faculty for a near-weeklong endurance test in the Kentucky Derby kitchens drew Newswatch 16's Chris Keating to campus Monday.
Keating talked with Chef Charles R. Niedermyer, instructor of baking and pastry arts and culinary arts, as well as two classmates making the trip: Autumn B. Stanley, a baking & pastry arts student from Lincoln University, and Kade N. Chrostowski, of Moorestown, New Jersey, pursuing degrees in applied management and culinary arts technology.
"Every time I go down, the students' reactions and their ability to step up just blows me away," Niedermyer told Keating for a story that aired in evening broadcasts.. "It is truly a pleasure to take them."
