A total of 179 Boy Scouts from up and down the Eastern Seaboard – Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia – attended Saturday's Merit Badge College on main campus. The popular event, hosted in partnership with the Susquehanna Council Boy Scouts of America, gave Scouts the opportunity to earn up to three badges from among 21 specialties taught by Penn College faculty. "I was very pleased to be able to host Scouts from six states on campus during this annual event," said Bradley M. Webb, dean of engineering technologies (and an Eagle Scout). "The purpose of the merit badge program in Scouting is to expose young adults to various subjects and their associated careers so they can plan for their future. I can't think of a better way to do that than to embed Scouts in our labs with our students and faculty where they actually get to do the work. We had youth welding, building electronic circuits, threading pipe and much more. If this doesn't scream 'future made by hand,' I don't know what does."Photos by Frank T.
