Faculty member turns student – and meticulously documents it all

Among the recent submissions by a Penn College faculty member – and technical contributor to the internet's only daily Mopar magazine – is a profusely illustrated offshoot of the Automotive Upholstery course he took last semester. Adding to his body of work in Mopar Connection, Christoper J. Holley shared his class project through a comprehensive "Make Your Own Seat Covers" feature. "When it comes to vehicle restoration, many of us have enough talent to handle the vehicle’s mechanicals and maybe even the paintwork," wrote the assistant professor of automotive technology. "Still, seat upholstery is often beyond the scope of many enthusiasts." So Holley enrolled in collision repair instructor Roy H. Klinger's course (RST 185) and, over the next 16 weeks, painstakingly reupholstered seats for his 1969 Dodge Dart – learning to sew, cutting and bending springs, manipulating fabric, and ultimately being quite satisfied with the result.
