Lab visits sharpen students' dual-enrollment experience
Wednesday, February 15, 2023
Dual-enrollment students from three schools visited the college campus on Tuesday to further explore hands-on applications of the courses they’re taking. Warrior Run High School students, enrolled in the college’s Fundamentals of Chemistry course, visited plastics, where they incorporated their knowledge of chemical reactions with an overview of part and mold design, then put it into practice on an injection molder. Cumberland Perry Area Career & Technical Center students, enrolled in Basics of Medical Terminology, visited the college’s physical therapist assistant facilities, while high school students enrolled in the same Penn College course at Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center saw practical uses for their knowledge in the Radiography Lab. Penn College Dual Enrollment allows qualified high school students to take Penn College coursework during their regular school day, tuition-free. In 2021-22, nearly 1,500 students earned more than 5,800 Penn College credits through Penn College Dual Enrollment. Several more Dual Enrollment Student Visit Days are scheduled this semester.
