College again honored for its welcoming, diverse hiring practices

Pennsylvania College of Technology has again been nationally recognized for fostering a diverse and inclusive employment environment across its campuses.
The college’s selection as one of 2023’s “Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs” was announced by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine and The American College Personnel Association-College Student Educators International. The college was first honored in 2015, and has frequently appeared on the list in subsequent years.
“Students are at the center of everything we do at Penn College, and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is a high priority at all levels,” said Jennifer McLean, dean of students. “The ability to serve and support students is optimized when the staff who lead student-focused efforts feel engaged, well-supported and well-informed.
“We are fortunate to work for an organization that holistically supports all of our employees and, in so doing, supports our students. Creating a culture of support and positivity has always been a priority in Student Affairs and across the college; the past three years have only reinforced the value and necessity of such efforts. Diversity, equity and inclusion are long-standing values at Penn College, and integrating them into our strategic plan – both for student and employee initiatives – has codified those priorities.”
The Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs roster reflects each institution’s workplace diversity, staffing practices and work environment, as assessed in a web-based survey of such factors as family friendliness, salary and benefits, and professional development opportunities.

The list will be published in the March 16 issue of Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine and winners will be acknowledged March 27 during the ACPA annual meeting in New Orleans. Celebrating 39 years, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education is the nation’s only biweekly news magazine and online daily dedicated exclusively to diversity issues in higher education.
