Eight students and two staff members – civic servants, all – selflessly participated in two "(community) Service Saturday" activities on Feb. 11.
Representatives of the School of Nursing & Health Sciences, Phi Mu Delta fraternity, Penn College Pep Band and the Horticulture Club helped move furniture at Dwell Orphan Care’s Williamsport location and created 24 Valentine’s Day packages for distribution at Ashler Manor in Muncy Township.
The students, who prepared handwritten cards for each resident, were joined by Jaycie M. Loud, assistant director of student engagement, and Natasha M. Martin, a first-shift General Services groundskeeper at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center.
“(community) Service Saturday” events, held the second Saturday of the month, provide the campus family with opportunities to volunteer within the Greater Williamsport area and get to know local organizations.
Students, faculty and staff may email the Office of Student Engagement to add their names to the list of volunteers and stay up-to-date on all upcoming service events.
