Equipment donation to benefit Penn College electrical program

Pennsylvania College of Technology students seeking degrees related to electrical technology will benefit from the generosity of the world leader in compact, professional electronic test tools.

Fluke Corp. recently donated eight MDA-550 III motor drive analyzers for the college’s Machine Analysis Lab. Nearly 100 students representing five majors – electrical construction, electric power generation technology: diesel emphasis, diesel technology, electrical technology and mechatronics technology – will use the test tools per academic year.

The eight devices are valued at $68,391.

“The motor analyzers will perform monitoring tasks in real time. This means that our students will be able to see a circuit’s actual power values,” explained Art L. Counterman, instructor of electrical technology/occupations. “The analyzers provide a real-world solution to monitoring a machine’s power usage, aiding students’ efforts in identifying and remedying inefficiencies.”

Founded in 1948, Fluke offers test, measurement and monitoring products and software used in electrical design, manufacturing and network troubleshooting, as well as in electrical, industrial, medical and calibration applications.
