A $20,000 donation from Citizens & Northern Bank as part of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program will be used to support approved educational programming at the Community Arts Center.
“The Community Arts Center provides exceptional live entertainment to the region and we are proud to continue our support of their programs," said Thomas Rudy, region president at C&N. "This year’s donation benefits their Youth Educational Series, which gives younger community members interested in the arts the opportunity to be involved."
The EITC program provides tax credits to eligible companies that do business in the state when they contribute to scholarship organizations, educational improvement organizations and/or pre-kindergarten scholarship organizations. The CAC is an approved Educational Improvement Organization through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
“EITC funds play a critical role in many of our community outreach initiatives, including our ongoing Educational Series performances and our annual holiday staging of The Nutcracker. We’re incredibly grateful for C & N Bank’s generosity, which will allow us to bring the spectacle of live theater to so many children and community members throughout Central Pennsylvania,” said Jim Dougherty, executive director of the CAC.
Funding for the educational programming is derived from various sources, including EITC funds, individual donations, corporate sponsorships and grants.
“The support the Community Arts Center receives from the business community is crucial and makes it possible for us to offer these student-centered programs,” said Ana Gonzalez-White, director of CAC development.
To qualify for the tax credit, visit the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development website. Existing EITC-approved businesses can choose to direct those funds to the Community Arts Center.

The CAC is a wholly owned subsidiary that merged with Pennsylvania College of Technology for administrative purposes on July 1.
