Hundreds flock to college's first Open House of '22

Admissions director Audriana L. Empet, whose informative presentation covered everything from student organizations to alumni success stories, enthusiastically tells the crowd about opportunities in the expanded welding and manufacturing labs.As the crowd broke into major-specific areas of interest, representatives of the college's three academic schools – including Brian D. Ogden attended Open House to learn more about building construction technology and construction management. With him are his father, Robert C. (center), facilities assistant lead person for General Services; and Clifford J. Jones, instructor of building construction technology, concrete and masonry.Chef Todd M. Keeley, assistant professor of baking and pastry/culinary arts, provides an oven demo in the baking and pastry lab. He was joined for a portion of the tour by Rebecca E. High, laboratory assistant for food and hospitality/culinary and a Senior Resident Assistant, who supplied a valuable student perspective for potential enrollees. (High, of Willow Street, is working toward a bachelor's in applied management to add to her 2021 associate degree in baking and pastry arts.)Excitement was in the air (along with a few snow showers) as Penn College welcomed more than 175 prospective students and their guests for the first Open House of the Spring 2022 semester on Friday. Visitors were given ample opportunity for campuswide exploration – starting with an Admissions presentation and tours of up to two academic areas, with optional room to check out other points of interest (including residence halls, dining units and The College Store). Online registration is open for the season's remaining Open House dates: Saturday, Feb. 5; Friday, Feb. 25; Saturday, March 19; Sunday, April 3; and Friday, April 22.
