Pennsylvania College of Technology winter sports teams had a slow week to start the new year. The women’s basketball team went 1-1 with one game canceled, the men’s basketball team went 0-1 with one cancellation and one postponement, and the wrestling team withdrew from its scheduled competition in the Budd Whitehill Duals at Lycoming College.
Women’s basketball
A 28-point fourth-quarter outburst lifted the Wildcats to a 66-51 nonconference win Monday at Mt. Aloysius College. Leading the way on offense were Rachel Teats, of Middleburg, with 19 points; Ja’Quela Dyer, of Dover, Delaware, with 14 points; Maci Ilgen, of Spring Mills, with 13 points; and Allie Troup, of Huntingdon, with 10 points. Dyer led the team with nine rebounds. Penn College outscored Mt. Aloysius in the paint, 34-20, and in points off turnovers, 24-7 in recording its second win against seven losses
Wednesday’s scheduled game at Wilkes University was canceled.
Returning to United East Conference play for the first time in more than a month, Penn College dropped a 74-46 decision at Lancaster Bible College on Saturday. LB led from start to finish, leading by as many as 34 points with 1:12 left in the third quarter while improving to 6-6 overall and 3-0 in the conference. Penn College fell to 2-8 overall and 1-2 in the UEC. Kayleigh Miller, of Sayre, led the Wildcats in scoring with nine points. Ilgen was tops with seven rebounds.

Corey Blackwell, of Hammonton, New Jersey, led the Wildcats with 17 points and Jesse White, of Harrisburg, was tops with eight rebounds. Juniata raced to a 47-16 halftime lead and outscored Penn College in points off turnovers, 38-9.
