CMT Materials contributes to roll-fed thermoformer upgrade
Monday, November 22, 2021
CMT Materials has provided $5,000 in support of upgrades to a roll-fed thermoformer used for instructional purposes at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The company, based in Attleboro, Massachusetts, with additional sites in the Netherlands and Southeast Asia, is a Corporate Tomorrow Maker partner with Penn College. CMT Materials has worked with the college’s Plastics Innovation & Resource Center for a number of years on workshops, student projects, training and testing.
The gift will be recognized with the company’s name displayed on a plaque placed on the equipment, along with those of other supporters of the project.
“I wish to thank CMT Materials for its generosity,” said Christopher J. Gagliano, PIRC project manager. “Their support of our plastics program and the Plastics Innovation & Resource Center has benefitted so many through our years of engagement. They are innovators in the industry and believers in the importance of hands-on education and Penn College’s effort to mold future plastics engineers.”
“We are happy to work with Penn College and the Plastics Innovation & Resource Center and wish more companies would take advantage of what is offered,” said Terry Woldorf, managing director for CMT Materials. “Those that do seem to become industry leaders through not just interactions, but also through hands-on exposure to process techniques and equipment capabilities that exist today – which, of course, leads to the next generation developments for tomorrow.
“Supporting student capstone projects, PIRC workshops, faculty access and the long-term networking relationships that are inevitably created all contribute to a unique and beneficial opportunity for our company.”
“CMT Materials’ long-standing support of the Plastics Innovation & Resource Center and our plastics & polymer engineering technology students is essential to the continued success and growth of Penn College’s program,” said Chris S. Macdonald, assistant director of corporate relations. “We greatly appreciate the company’s commitment to the upgrade of our roll-fed thermoformer. They are driven to innovate the processes of their industry, just as Penn College is driven to innovate how we prepare the workforce of tomorrow. Our partnership helps to achieve both goals.”
Founded in 1998, CMT Materials designs and develops innovative tooling materials for thermoforming. Its HYTAC syntactic foam plug assists are used by leading toolmakers and thermoformers around the world.
