CAC fragrantly dressed for 'Victorian Christmas,' beyond
Tuesday, November 16, 2021
It’s that time of the year again – Victorian Christmas weekend in historic Williamsport! The Hager Lifelong Education Center loop will be the first stop for the event's Saturday trolley shuttle. (Every stop along the route will be marked with a life-size nutcracker sign.) Penn College's General Services Department obtained two Fraser firs from Shelinski’s Tree Farm, owned and operated by horticulture instructor Justin Shelinski, for display in the Community Arts Center: a 20-footer for the first floor and a 14-foot tree for the Capitol Lounge. The Arts Center is a fitting inclusion on this year's tour, the theme of which is "Visual Arts of the Victorian Era." The grounds crew picked up and delivered the trees to the CAC on Tuesday, and joined with the GS maintenance team to place and decorate them for the holiday tradition. The evergreens will remain on-site until recycled after the new year, sure to brighten the season for those attending Penn College's fall commencement (Dec. 18) and other events at the 220 W. Fourth St. venue.
