Graphic design students, as well as college and community members, enjoyed an intimate conversation Thursday night with artist Jeanette May in The Gallery at Penn College. As part of the reception for her “Tech Vanitas” exhibit, the Brooklyn, New York, photographer delivered a talk, sharing her inspirations and process, and answering questions on color and design. She also met post-talk with a group of graphic design students who further engaged her in questions and conversation.
In addition to being a treat for the young artists, the setting offered an extra pleasure for May, who savored seeing all pieces from her “Tech Vanitas” series on exhibit in one place for the first time. Pennsylvania College of Technology’s spacious and beautiful gallery is on the third floor of Madigan Library, and “Tech Vanitas” is on display through Nov. 23.
Hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. (The gallery is closed on Saturdays.) Admission is free and open to the public. Prior to visiting, guests should view the college’s Continuity of Operations page for current guidelines related to the pandemic.
