IT expert treats students to tales of foiling hackers' trickery

Appropriately invited by Penn College's Information Security Association, an authority on network intrusion (and subsequent containment) offered a keynote presentation in the Student & Administrative Services Center on Tuesday afternoon. The campus organization arranged for the appearance by Jon Matthews, vice president of digital forensics and incident response for CyberMaxx, in conjunction with October's designation as Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The speaker provided a 45-minute overview of such relevant issues as ransomware and remediation, drawing on a substantial resume that includes U.S. Army counterintelligence work.
