Sunday, February 21, 2021

Penn College Benefiting THON joined the overall 2021 fundraising efforts to support Four Diamonds' battle against pediatric cancer during the past eight months, working to achieve success and growth even during a pandemic. As the first virtual THON Weekend ended at 4 p.m. Sunday, Penn College Benefiting THON had raised a total of $10,436.99. The overall total for THON 2021 was $10,638,078.62.

Your Building CentersGAF"The leadership team faced numerous challenges on the fundraising front this year, but did not stop the perseverance to achieve success and find new ways of fundraising this year," said Rudy C. Shadle, who heads the Pennsylvania College of Technology student chapter.

"One of those ways was with the corporate donation and community outreach. The organization was able to build a relationship with GAF Materials Corp., which worked with Your Building Centers Inc. for a donation of $1,000. Working with a company from the area was great, connecting them with THON’s mission and spreading the word in the local community. This donation will help impact the children and families experiencing cancer treatment, and all the additional costs that come along with that challenging time."

In addition to the corporate donation, the club raised more than $6,500 online, hosted Lanterns on the Lawn and a raffle, sent letters to families and friends, partnered with Phi Mu Delta, and put donation boxes at local businesses.

"The club and leadership team thank everyone that supported us this past year, as it now records the second-best total for Penn College since the club started on campus," Shadle said. "The next fundraising year will begin on July 1, with hopes of growing and providing more support to the people that need it most."
