Wednesday, January 13, 2021

While the 105th Pennsylvania Farm Show has been transformed to a virtual event for 2021, the college’s culinary arts program is maintaining its tradition of involvement in the eight-day show that celebrates the state’s agricultural industry.

The Farm Show’s virtual events are being featured throughout this week on social media and through the Pennsylvania Cable Network.

Ditchfield, instructor of hospitality management/culinary arts, and Chef Darren Layre, a 2015 Penn College graduate and executive sous chef for Alta Vita Ristorante in Pittsburgh, team up for a “Let’s Make Dinner” demonstration.

Ditchfield also took part in a panel discussion that aired Monday, Jan. 11. The faculty member joined panelists from other high-demand agricultural occupations to discuss the various career opportunities in agriculture, including culinary, agriculture equipment mechanics, large animal veterinary services, farming, hydroponics and horticulture.

To aid the virtual experience, the college submitted a collection of videos that honor the spirit of agriculture education.

The Pennsylvania Farm Show continues through Saturday, Jan. 16.
