Bank’s EITC donation supports Penn College NOW program

Thursday, November 12, 2020

Susquehanna Community Bank has made a second Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program donation to the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation to assist with an approved innovative educational program at the college.

The bank’s $1,000 EITC donation will benefit the Penn College NOW dual enrollment program, which enables academically qualified high school and career technology center students to take tuition-free courses for college credit. Last year, 1,700 students earned more than 6,800 credits valued at more than $3.8 million through Penn College NOW.

Krysia Ziegler, community banking officer for Susquehanna Community Bank, visited Penn College recently to deliver a $1,000 check representing the financial institution’s EITC donation in support of the Penn College NOW dual enrollment program. Accepting on behalf of the college is Kyle A. Smith, executive director of college relations and the Penn College Foundation.

The Penn College Foundation is approved as an Educational Improvement Organization under the EITC program administered by the state Department of Community & Economic Development.

“We are grateful for Susquehanna Community Bank’s continued generosity,” said Kyle A. Smith, executive director of college relations and the Penn College Foundation. “Their participation affords us the ability to provide secondary students the opportunity to engage with Penn College’s programs and further explore their interests.”

“We are proud to give to the Penn College Foundation,” said Krysia Ziegler, community banking officer. “The programs they offer to students in our area are extremely important. They help provide education and personal growth to better our communities. It’s a movement we are happy to help support.”

Susquehanna Community Bank is celebrating its 100th anniversary serving the region. Founded in West Milton in 1920, it offers seven branches in northcentral Pennsylvania, including its newest one in Williamsport.

Ziegler and Rebecca Yeager, marketing manager for Susquehanna Community Bank, recently visited the college to present a check to the foundation.
