A two-sided billboard, now stationed between Madigan Library and the Student & Administrative Services Center, conveys a message that the Penn College community has been phenomenally successful at heeding: "Masks on equals hands on." The Student Affairs billboard, supplied by Lamar Advertising and mounted on a trailer for portability to other high-traffic areas across campus, reinforces sound advice that has kept students in their applied technology classrooms and labs for more than 11 weeks of the fall semester. With holiday travel looming, President Davie Jane Gilmour recently called for continued diligence and compliance at an institution that has studiously avoided the return to remote learning experienced at so many others. "Conduct your daily self-check, and don’t go to class or work if you are experiencing coronavirus symptoms," she said in an all-college email. "Wear a mask, observe social distancing and avoid large gatherings – as well as smaller get-togethers for longer periods of time indoors – so that we can boost our chances of keeping everyone safe."
