Jodi F. Stiner, a part-time faculty member for Pennsylvania College of Technology’s physical therapist assistant program, recently received the Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist credential.

Stiner completed a 32-hour course conducted by Neurorecovery Unlimited, in collaboration with the American Stroke Association, followed by an online competency examination. The course, taught by physical therapy educators and researchers, was designed to equip treating clinicians with current, evidence-based instruction and hands-on training in the treatment of strokes.

Jodi F. Stiner“It is important for our faculty to always be learning in order to have the knowledge to instruct students in the most up-to-date practice ideals and techniques, and to help them be better professionals in the clinic and be able to share that knowledge with their clinical instructors and colleagues,” Stiner said.

Stiner has been with the physical therapist assistant program since it began to receive students in 2017. Additionally, she has taught as a guest lecturer and guest instructor for the physical therapy program at Emory University. Currently, she is employed at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg as a level III therapist.

She holds a Master of Physical Therapy degree from Emory University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University. She also is a geriatric certified specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association and has worked in a variety of clinical settings in several states.

Penn College offers an associate degree in physical therapist assistant. Hands-on learning takes place in a well-equipped, on-campus laboratory where students practice skills and interventions. In addition, each student completes three clinical education experiences, available with more than 65 diverse organizations offering opportunities in inpatient, outpatient, long-term and specialty care.
