Explore, discover and define your future at March 28 open house

When it comes to choosing a college, seeing is believing. And there’s a lot to see at Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Spring Open House!

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 28, members of the Penn College community will welcome thousands of potential enrollees and their families, opening wide the doors to a landmark institution that has helped tomorrow makers fulfill their destinies for more than a century.

“Open House provides a unique way for prospective students to explore our campus,” said Jen M. Cullin-Hetrick, coordinator of admissions events/communications. “With no set agenda to follow, guests can take the day to explore what matters most to them. Whether that is seeing as many labs as possible, checking out the residence halls, connecting with current students, or all of the above.”



Visitors can tour the recently expanded welding laboratories, home to a rare electron beam welder, and check out the Wildcat Den, where esports athletes prepare for global competition.

Hungry for more?

Then feel horsepower through a chassis dynamometer, assess the sweltering demand for HVAC graduates, build a 3D home, assist with life-saving surgery in a simulated operating room, stand at the intersection of inspiration and innovation, and sample a far-reaching curricular menu that includes the newest industry-responsive majors – electrical construction, automation engineering technology: mechatronics, and automation engineering technology: robotics and automation.

In addition to stepping into the college’s academic schools, the visitors can traverse the eye-catching grounds and gain an intimate perspective on student life: NCAA Division III athletics, veterans’ services and a breadth of campus organizations, among them.

Visitors can also tour The Dr. Welch Workshop: A Makerspace at Penn College, home to a wide variety of applied-technology activities.

Administrators, faculty, students and alumni will guide attendees through their day; dining facilities and The College Store will be open for business; and office staff will share their peerless insight into admissions and financial aid procedures.

Free shuttles will circulate throughout main campus, and transportation is provided to nearby campuses: the Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Allenwood and the Lumley Aviation Center in Montoursville.

Getting started is as simple as visiting the Open House website, where prospective guests can build an informal “to-do list,” from overview sessions to more specific activities.

Those unable to attend next month’s event can schedule a campus tour, visit on one of the convenient Exploration Days throughout the year or plan to visit during Fall Open House (scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 25).
