Both the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s and women’s basketball teams continue to show good signs of growth this season with wins over the past week.
Men’s basketball
Hosting Penn State Berks Tuesday in North Eastern Athletic Conference action, the Wildcats used a 48-22 first-half advantage en route to a 90-70 victory as they posted back-to-back wins and secured their first four-win season since the 2016-17 campaign. Leading Penn College on offense were Ben Sosa, of Loyalsock Township, with 21 points; Elijah Vazquez, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, with 18 points; and Carson Garvis, of Taneytown, Maryland, with 16 points. The Wildcats outscored Berks in the paint 50-24 and held a commanding 45-26 rebounding advantage. Jesse White, of Harrisburg, topped Penn College with 10 caroms.
Saturday, hosting Gallaudet University, Penn College made it three wins in a row – for the first time since the 2016-17 season when it ended 9-16 – with a 74-60 victory that improved its record to 5-11 overall and 3-4 in the NEAC, moving into a tie for second in the conference’s South Division standings. Vazquez led the Wildcats with 19 points while Damon Kreider, of Landisville, added 17 points and Garvis 11 points and 12 rebounds. Sosa finished with 10 rebounds and his nine points moved him into fifth on the Penn College men’s all-time scoring list with 1,076 points.

Women’s basketball
Tuesday at home with NEAC foe Penn State Berks, Penn College struggled on offense, shooting just 13 of 51 from the floor and 1 of 18 from the 3-point line, in a 57-37 loss. Cassie Kuhns, of Loyalsock Township, led the Wildcats with 13 points while Tori Wolfe, of Dalmatia, had a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Ja’Quela Dyer, of Dover, Delaware, also had 15 rebounds for Penn College.
Hosting Gallaudet University on Saturday, the Wildcats lost, 76-65, to fall to 1-6 in the conference. Dyer topped Penn College with 16 points and 19 rebounds while Madison Klock, of Elysburg, and Lydia Albert, of Trout Run, each added 11 points.
In a nonconference home makeup game Sunday, Penn College stopped Wilson College, 70-55, and improved to 4-11 overall — the first time it has reached the four-win mark since the 2014-15 season when it finished 13-12. Pacing the Wildcats were Klock with 18 points, Kuhns with 17 points and 12 rebounds, Albert with 11 points and Dyer with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Penn College led in rebounds, 50-30, and picked up 16 points at the foul line on 16 of 20 shooting with Kuhns hitting 11 of 14 herself.
