Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Le Jeune Chef Restaurant, which offers casual fine dining to the public, received Wine Spectator magazine’s 2019 “Award of Excellence” as part of the publication’s Restaurant Awards program.
Wine Spectator magazine reaches about 3 million readers worldwide. The magazine’s annual Restaurant Awards program recognizes restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers. Honorees are published in its August issue.
Le Jeune Chef, operated by the college’s School of Business & Hospitality, has been recognized by Wine Spectator each year since 1995.
The magazine’s 2019 Restaurant Awards list comprises 3,797 restaurants from 50 states and more than 50 countries whose passion for wine makes them singular dining destinations for wine lovers.
Wine Spectator grants its Restaurant Awards at three levels. The Award of Excellence, received by Le Jeune Chef, signifies sufficient choice to satisfy discerning wine lovers, with a list that features a well-chosen assortment of quality producers.
Le Jeune Chef Restaurant’s wine list offers more than 500 selections, encompassing major varieties from the world’s key wine-producing regions, with strengths in California, France and Italy.
The restaurant’s extensive wine list allows Penn College students to gain hands-on experience in wine service and food-and-wine pairings, while the restaurant’s educational atmosphere allows patrons to learn more about wines, as well.
In addition to Le Jeune Chef, Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Awards list recognizes Williamsport’s DiSalvo’s Restaurant.
