Thursday, March 14, 2019
Fifteen members of the first graduating class from Pennsylvania College of Technology’s physical therapist assistant major have taken the national physical therapy exam for physical therapist assistants, and all 15 passed on their first try.
The 2017 national pass rate for the NPTE physical therapist assistant exam is 87 percent.
Passing the exam is a required step to becoming a certified physical therapist assistant and beginning employment as a PTA in Pennsylvania. Before taking the exam, a student must graduate from an educational program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.
Sixteen students graduated from the college’s physical therapist assistant program in August, achieving a 100 percent graduation rate for the charter class. One of those graduates has not yet taken the certification exam.
Penn College offers an associate degree in physical therapist assistant. The degree program is accredited by CAPTE.
