On April 24, Pennsylvania College of Technology will host an information session on its emergency medical services/paramedic program and its emergency medical technician course.
The event is scheduled at 7 p.m. in the college’s Klump Academic Center, Room 10.
During the session, program leaders will discuss the college’s EMS associate degree and paramedic technician certificate – both of which prepare graduates for certification as a paramedic. They will talk about entrance requirements, certification requirements, the program’s structure and job opportunities for graduates.
Labs will be open for tours, and faculty and staff will be on hand to answer questions.
Those interested in becoming an emergency medical technician can learn more about the EMT course that is offered in three counties by Workforce Development at Penn College. The course meets National Emergency Medical Services Educational Standards and Instructional Guidelines and is intended to prepare students for National Registry cognitive and psychomotor exams at the EMT level.
Local employers will attend to discuss job opportunities for both EMTs and paramedics.
Register for the information session by April 1 by emailing Christopher T. Boyer, director of paramedic technology programs at Penn College, or calling 570-329-4931.
Penn College’s EMS/paramedic program provides extensive classroom, laboratory and clinical/field experience to prepare graduates to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician examination to become certified as a paramedic.
The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions. The program is also accredited as a training institute by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
