Weather-related postponements hamper Penn College teams

Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s and women’s basketball teams dropped their midweek games while weekend action for those two squads and the wrestling team was postponed due to an impending snowstorm. 



Men's basketball
At home on Monday against College of Saint Elizabeth in a game that went down to the wire, Penn College lost, 91-90, in overtime. The Wildcats trailed by four at halftime before knotting the score at 80 at the end of regulation. In the OT, the game was tied three times before Penn College went ahead 90-88 with 51 seconds left. A foul shot and a layup with 10 seconds remaining after a Wildcat turnover closed out the scoring and gave Saint Elizabeth its win. Elijah Vazquez, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, led the Wildcats with 22 points; Ryan Lockman, of White Salmon, Washington, tallied 21; Spencer Bartron, of Camden, Delaware, scored 15; and Carson Garvis, of Taneytown, Maryland, chipped in with 11.   

In North Eastern Athletic Conference action this week: At Gallaudet University (2-13 overall, 2-5 NEAC through Sunday), 3 p.m. Monday; host Penn State Abington (8-8 overall, 5-2 NEAC through Sunday), 8 p.m. Wednesday; at SUNY Poly (6-11 overall, 3-5 NEAC through Sunday), 3 p.m. Saturday.

Statistically speaking in the NEAC: Lockman is tied for third, hitting 60.6 percent of his field goal shots; seventh, averaging 1.2 blocks per game; 13th in scoring with a 14.6-per-game average; and 15th in rebound average with seven per game. Ben Sosa, of Loyalsock Township, is ninth, averaging 2.8 assists per game.  

Women's basketball
Wrapping up a four-game NEAC homestand on Wednesday, Penn College fell, 79-68, to College of Saint Elizabeth. Madison Klock, of Elysburg, led the Wildcats in scoring with 15 points and 11 assists while Cassi Kuhns, of Loyalsock Township, and Arianna Burke, of Chambersburg, each added 12 points. Tori Wolfe, of Dalmatia, had 11 rebounds and Kuhns pulled down 10.

Statistically speaking in the NEAC: Madison Klock, of Elysburg, is tied for fourth, averaging 2.8 steals per game, and is tied for ninth, averaging 3.5 assists per game; Wolfe is 13th with an average of 7.2 rebounds per game. Kuhns is tied for sixth, averaging one block per game; 17th, hitting 41.9 percent of her field goal attempts; and 14th with 92 rebounds. Gwendolyn Lavelle, of Pocono Summit, is 18th, hitting 29.8 percent of her 3-point shots. Brown is 21st, hitting 27.9 percent of her 3-point shots.
