For those looking to sharpen their computer skills while learning something new, Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering several easy-to-learn computer courses.
The Microsoft Office courses are taught by qualified instructors at a comfortable pace for all levels of adult learners. The classes are held in a relaxed computer-classroom environment, allowing participants to learn, experiment and ask questions. Courses are hands-on, with each participant working at a computer station.
Microsoft course offerings this spring include:
Excel Level 1 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 21, or Saturday, April 6) – Gain the skills necessary to create basic worksheets, perform calculations, modify and format worksheets, and manage and print workbooks.
Excel Level 2 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 17) – Designed for those desiring to gain advanced skill sets necessary for calculating data using functions and formulas, sorting and filtering data, visualizing data using charts, using PivotTables and PivotCharts for analyzing data, and customizing workbooks.
Excel Level 3 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2) – Delve into some of the more specialized and advanced capabilities of Excel. Topics include working with multiple workbooks, lookup functions, sharing and protecting workbooks, and automating workbook functionality via step-macros.
PowerPoint (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 7) – Learn how to create presentations. Topics include creating a basic presentation; formatting text on the slides; inserting images, shapes, tables and charts; and preparing to deliver the presentation.
Publisher (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 11) – Learn how to create, lay out and edit publications. Topics include modifying the layout and structure of a publication, formatting text, editing the content, and preparing a publication for distribution.
Word Level 1 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 23) – Learn the fundamental knowledge and techniques needed to use more complex Word features. Topics include editing text, modifying the appearance of text, inserting special characters and graphical objects, organizing data in tables, managing lists, proofing documents, and controlling the appearance of pages.
