Army ROTC training to feature Chinook landings on campus

As part of a field training exercise for Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Army ROTC cadets, a CH-47F Chinook twin-engine, tandem-rotor cargo helicopter will land on the Madigan Library lawn on Friday, Oct. 26.
During the field training for the cadets – who are part of Bald Eagle Battalion, headquartered at Lock Haven University – Lt. Col. Jonathon M. Britton, professor of military science, will challenge the future leaders to improvise with available resources to accomplish missions under complex conditions.
The goal is to have cadets leave the training with an advanced understanding of how to use squad tactics and make tactically sound, complex decisions to further their basic capabilities.
The campus community is invited to the Madigan Library lawn to watch the helicopter land at 11 a.m. From 11 a.m. to noon, spectators are welcome to visit with the cadets, view the Chinook helicopter and take photographs. The aircraft will depart with the cadets at noon.
Another Chinook landing will take place at 1:30 p.m. on the same day to pick up a second group of cadets; the aircraft will depart at 2 p.m.
Spectators will be directed to remain at a safe distance during the helicopter’s landings and takeoffs.
