Army Commissions Two Penn College ROTC Graduates

Two Pennsylvania College of Technology graduates were among the Bald Eagle Battalion Army ROTC cadets recently commissioned as second lieutenants.

Christopher T. Craig II, of Rixford, who earned a bachelor’s degree in automotive technology management, and Dane M. Boltz, of Williamsport, recipient of a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering technology, were commissioned during a ceremony at Lock Haven University, the host institution for the Bald Eagle Battalion.

Boltz (right), of Williamsport, earned a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering technology. Joining them – and administering the oath of office to the new lieutenants – was Maj. Jonathon M. Britton, professor of military science at Lock Haven University, the host institution for Bald Eagle Battalion.“The college is so proud of our newly minted Army lieutenants,” said Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour. “As I told Christopher and Dane, military service represents the highest of callings, and we are honored to have two more Penn College alumni leading American soldiers.”

Maj. Jonathon M. Britton, professor of military science, administered the oath of office to the new lieutenants.

Craig gets his Second Lieutenant shoulder boards from his wife ...... while Boltz's parents do the same for their favorite grad.Graduates of the ROTC program commit to four years of active duty or eight years in the Army Reserve or National Guard. Both avenues result in specialized training in a designated branch of the Army and the opportunity for postgraduate education.

Boltz will serve as an aviation officer in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Craig will be an officer in the quartermaster corps of the the Army Reserve.
