Year-End Rites Welcome New Honor Society Members

Three honor society chapters at Pennsylvania College of Technology held induction ceremonies this month.

Eighty-nine students were admitted into the college’s Beta Epsilon Upsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for students in two-year majors.

The guest speaker was Adam C. Gehrke, of Shermans Dale, an on-site power generation major and vice president of the Penn College PTK chapter. Co-advisers Joseph Loehr, associate professor of mass media communication/English-composition, and Kevin R. Derr, professor of legal assistant, presided over the induction in the Klump Academic Center. Also participating were college President Davie Jane Gilmour and Tom Gregory, associate vice president for instruction.

Twenty-eight new members were accepted into the Pennsylvania Xi Chapter of Alpha Chi, which is open to all bachelor-degree majors and limited to the top 10 percent of junior and senior classes, during a ceremony in the Thompson Professional Development Center.

Faculty co-sponsors Dottie M. Mathers, associate professor of medical-surgical nursing, and Walter J. Shultz Jr., director, Office of Instruction Technology, presided. Additionally taking part were Gilmour, Gregory and chapter President Matthew J. Horner, an engineering design technology major from Marion.

Delta Mu Delta
Two students were added to the Lambda Nu chapter of the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society, formed to recognize academic excellence in business administration majors.

Walton recounts the honorees' numerous campus contributions, all of which combine to "make Penn College a better place."Inducted during a ceremony in the PDC were Keegan D. Sonney, Erie, applied management, and Dianna R. Weaver, Morris, business administration: management concentration.

Membership in Delta Mu Delta is available to candidates for a bachelor's degree in an accredited business-related program who have completed at least half of the required coursework, who are carrying a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better and who are in the top 20 percent of their college class in overall grade average.

Facilitating all three of the day's events was Mary Ann Hollenbach, president's office assistant.
