An Aviation Camp has been added to the already-captivating roster of fun, interactive and hands-on summer camps that reflect the distinctive career opportunities offered at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The signup deadline is May 11, for the 11 overnight camps and one day camp. In addition to gaining inspiration to chart their employment path, participants entering grades nine to 12 are eligible for up to $2,000 in tuition assistance should they enroll at Penn College.
The overnight camps (fees for which include activities, meals and on-campus housing) are:
Architecture Odyssey Camp
June 17-21, $400; for students entering grades nine-12
Discover the world of architecture and sustainable design through design studios and seminars, field trips to building sites and visits to architecture offices.
Autism Spectrum Postsecondary Interest Experience
June 21-22, $75; for students entering grades 10-12
Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and their parents, will obtain valuable information about post-secondary education and career exploration.
Automotive Restoration Camp
June 17-20, $350; for students entering grades 10-12
Learn what it takes to return vintage cars and trucks to their former glory while immersing in the world of automotive restoration.
Aviation Camp (New for 2018)
June 17-19, $250; for students entering grades 10-12
Discover the world of aviation maintenance by hands-on application of sheet metal, composite materials, engine operation and drone aircraft operation. A tour of an Air Traffic Control tower is included.
Designing a Digital Future Camp
June 17-19, $200; for students entering grades 10-12
Explore a variety of information technology fields including gaming, programming, networking, cybersecurity and mobile applications.
Engineering Camp
June 20-21, $200; for students entering grades 10-12
Explore engineering concepts and careers such as robotics and electronics, plastics and polymer engineering, machining, civil engineering and welding.
Future Restaurateurs Career Camp
June 17-21, $450; for students entering grades nine-12
Join chefs from Penn College’s hospitality department for this camp focused on the ins and outs of baking and pastry arts, culinary arts, and hospitality management.
Graphic Design Summer Studio
June 17-20, $415; for students entering grades 10-12
Participants will be guided through the graphic design process, from ideation to concept development to production.
Grow & Design Horticulture Camp
June 17-20, $400; for students entering grades 11-12
Attend workshops on topics such as greenhouse techniques, plant identification and production, floral design, entomology, and more.
Health Careers Camp
June 17-19, $200; for students entering grades nine-12
Discover a variety of health careers including dental hygiene, nursing, occupational therapy assistant, physical therapy assistant, physician assistant, surgical technology and more.
SMART Girls Summer Camp
June 17-22, $250; for girls entering grades eight-11
Experience math and science as a foundation for careers in technology. Campers will build their own robots and work to complete a variety of activities. (Underwritten by the Education Improvement Tax Credit program.)
Offered as a day camp (fee includes all activities and art supplies):
Creative Art Camp
July 9-12, $95 for half-day session (9 a.m.-noon); or students entering grades four-seven
Young artists will focus on a different medium each day, including drawing, sculpting and sunprinting.
