The economic benefit of constructing multifamily residences with Insulating Concrete Forms will be the topic of a free presentation co-sponsored this month by Penn College's School of Construction & Design Technologies.
"The Business Case for Building Multifamily Buildings With Concrete," featuring Gregg A. Lewis, executive vice president of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 28 in Penn's Inn (Bush Campus Center, second floor).
"Wednesday’s presentation on building larger/taller with insulated concrete forms is a great opportunity to hear from an national industry leader," said Dorothy J. Gerring, associate professor of architectural technology. "Gregg Lewis is a registered architect who has won awards for his design work, written extensively on sustainability and spearheaded the Cradle-to-Cradle Home Design Competition. We are very fortunate to have a speaker of this caliber on campus, and it is a great opportunity for everyone to learn from an industry expert."
Among the aims of the presentation:
Co-sponsors with the college are NRMCA and the Pennsylvania Aggregates and Concrete Association. Beginning this fall, the college will offer an associate-degree major in concrete science technology.

- Demonstrate the economic benefits of building multifamily projects with ICFs
- Recognize the ways that ICF construction can save investors both time and money
- Understand the long-term value of building with concrete and ICFs
