Wednesday, January 3, 2018
Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering a 96-hour Programmable Logic Controller training at no cost to participants at multiple sites in northcentral Pennsylvania.
This program is made available with funding from Workforce Solutions for North Central Pennsylvania, the Workforce Development Board serving Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter counties. Workforce Solutions, through a customer-centered approach, collaborates with partners to design innovative workforce strategies.
The program starts Jan. 29 and ends April 4, and is scheduled from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Mondays and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays.
PLC is an industrial computer that controls manufacturing processes, including assembly lines and robotic devices. “As manufacturing processes advance and become more automated, individuals with a PLC background will become more valuable and attractive to manufacturers in the region,” explained Thomas W. Fry, program instructor.
The course is offered through Iris, an innovative web-based delivery system that enables instruction at multiple locations at the same time, thus reducing travel. Successful completion of the 96-hour program will allow participants to sit for PMMI Level 1 certification, a nationally recognized credential available through the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies.
Interested enrollees should contact their local PA CareerLink office (in Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, McKean or Potter counties) or call WDCE at 570-327-4775.
For more about the college, a national leader in applied technology education and workforce development, email the Admissions Office or call toll-free 800-367-9222.
