Downtown Gallery to Exhibit Work of Professor Emeritus

Frederick T. Gilmour"The Dichotomy of an Artist: Abstractions and Realizations," a two-part exhibit by alumnus/retiree Frederick T. Gilmour, will open at 6 p.m. Jan. 5 at Gallery 425, 425 Market St., as part of Williamsport's First Friday schedule. The exhibit comprises "Abstractions: A Thought Collective," featuring abstract assemblages of feathers, photographs and other found objects, and "Realizations: Architectural Archaeology," a collection of pen-and-ink illustrations of rural architecture. An emeritus faculty member, Gilmour studied technical illustration at Penn College’s predecessors (Williamsport Technical Institute and Williamsport Area Community College) and received a bachelor’s degree in art education from Mansfield University. He retired from Penn College in 2001 after 20 years of service, including positions as director of instructional technology/distance learning, assistant professor of advertising art and executive director of the Penn College Foundation. The exhibit runs through Jan. 30.
