A "car smash," a traditionally entertaining (and stress-relieving) campus fundraiser since the Fall 1970 semester at Williamsport Area Community College, was updated this month to benefit the fight against pediatric cancer. Penn College Benefiting THON, a student organization allied with the annual February dance marathon at Penn State, raised $120 from people taking a swing or two at a donated vehicle. All proceeds benefit the Four Diamonds Fund at the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital, providing a variety of financial assistance for families and children going through cancer treatments. "Most importantly, the funding goes toward research happening every day to try and find a cure," said organizer Rylee A. Butler, an engineering design technology student from Bellefonte. "We would also like to say, 'Thank you so much' to everyone who supported this great cause and a special thanks to the Sigma Pi brothers for helping make the fundraiser a success."
