Pennsylvania College of Technology continues its regional prominence in the 2018 edition of the "U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges" guidebook.
Penn College is ranked fifth among public colleges – up from seventh a year ago – and 13th overall (when private institutions are included) in the Regional Colleges North category.
The publication compared a total of 324 regional colleges on such statistical criteria as student retention, graduate rates and student-faculty ratio.
Penn College’s support of military veterans and active-duty personnel – including an in-state tuition rate to all servicemen and women, regardless of their residence – is reflected in its No. 2 ranking among public institutions (and No. 7 overall) in the Best Colleges for Veterans category for Regional Colleges North.
For comparative purposes, regional colleges are defined as schools that “focus almost entirely on the undergraduate experience and offer a broad range of programs in the liberal arts (which account for fewer than half of bachelor’s degrees granted) and in fields such as business, nursing and education.”
The annual rankings, which were announced Tuesday, will be published in the “Best Colleges 2018” guidebook available for purchase this fall.
