For those looking to sharpen their computer skills while learning something new, Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering several easy-to-grasp computer courses.
The Microsoft Office courses are taught by qualified instructors at a comfortable pace for all levels of adult learners. The small, noncredit classes are held in a relaxed computer-classroom environment, allowing participants to learn, experiment and ask questions. Courses are hands-on, with each participant working at a computer station. The cost for each is $195.
Microsoft course offerings this fall, taught in the Center for Business & Workforce Development on Penn College’s main campus, include:
Access: Level 1 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12)
Learn how to leverage the features of Access to increase effectiveness and enhance productivity. Gain the fundamental knowledge and techniques needed to use more complex Access features, such as maintaining databases and using programming techniques. Topics include building the structure of a database, managing data in a table, querying a database and generating reports.
Access: Level 2 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26)
Designed for those who wish to learn intermediate-level operations of Access. Participants will examine relational database design, write advanced queries, structure existing data, share data across applications and customize reports.
Excel: Level 1 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 14)
Gain the skills necessary to create basic worksheets, perform calculations, modify and format worksheets, and manage and print workbooks.
Excel: Level 2 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 28)
Designed for those desiring to gain advanced skill sets necessary for calculating data using functions and formulas, sorting and filtering data, visualizing data using charts, using PivotTables and PivotCharts for analyzing data, and customizing workbooks.
Word: Level 1 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 10)
Learn the fundamental knowledge and techniques needed to use more complex Word features. Topics include editing text, modifying the appearance of text, inserting special characters and graphical objects, organizing data in tables, managing lists, proofing documents, and controlling the appearance of pages.

Learn how to create or modify complex business documents and customize Word’s efficiency tools.
