Master Your Creative Potential Through Penn College Classes

Two digital imaging courses will be offered this fall by Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Instructor Wayne Palmer has been involved with some facet of photography for more than 40 years. The owner of Palmer Multimedia Imaging, he will share his mastery of digital photography and Adobe Photoshop with WDCE students starting in September.



The Fall 2017 courses are:

Mastering Your Advanced Digital Camera
6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays (Sept. 7 and 28, and Oct. 5)
This class covers understanding of the camera's features and using them in hands-on practice, and editing photographs to produce extraordinary images. The “aperture/shutter speed/ISO relationship” will be demystified, as well as the camera program modes and other features. Photo improvements such as cropping, resizing, color and tonal corrections will also be covered.

This course is a very personalized class and offers one-on-one interaction and assistance with the instructor. Requirements: An advanced digital camera, SLR-style, that allows control over exposure; access to an owner's manual; and an understanding of computer file management. The course cost is $225.

Adobe Photoshop
6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays (Oct. 12 to Nov. 9)
Learn to use Photoshop’s powerful tools for selecting parts of images and moving, duplicating and resizing photos. Other topics include using layers and applying layer effects and filters to create special effects, including lighting and texture effects.

Participants will also be taught to use painting tools and blending modes to create shading effects and will learn to perform adjustments to contrast and color balance. The course cost is $260.
