Final projects by students in The Art of Floral Design (HRT 260), an art elective taught by alumna Karen R. Ruhl, are on display in Madigan Library through Tuesday. The students – who met for lecture on main campus on Tuesdays and for lab work at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center on Thursdays – had to create their designs using the fundamental skills learned during the semester; and determine the containers, flowers and foliage required to implement their vision. The class, which is open to all academic majors, "provides an opportunity for students to express themselves in a unique art form," said Ruhl, owner of Special Occasion Florals in Williamsport. "The basic elements and principles of design that we learn provide the foundation for a lifelong skill."
